Curriculum and Goals
Our Lady of the Lake School’s (OLL) mathematics curricula aligns with Archdiocesan standards and the Catholic Common Core.
The mathematical instruction at OLL develops skills such as problem solving, reasoning, communicating, use of technology, and graphical representations of data. Instruction is rigorous and requires students to demonstrate conceptual understanding, application, procedural skill, and fluency.
SLEs
The Schoolwide Learning Expectations are integrated into all mathematical content. The teachers facilitate appropriate discussion, of related concepts to encourage and develop Catholic Values, Lifelong Learning, Self-Awareness, and Responsible Citizenship. Students are encouraged to develop a sense of awareness, responsibility, and an appreciation of learning mathematical concepts throughout their lives as they grow and develop beyond middle school.
Technology
Throughout the mathematic courses we strive to make use of technology with the use of Chromebooks. Students are encouraged to make appropriate and responsible decisions with their use of technology. Programs used to enhance the mathematics curriculum include: ALEKS, Khan Academy, and additional online resources as appropriate to the grade level.
